Coffee, brewed freshly
in the morning,
served while I am perusing
the news, emails, and
indulge in 30 minutes of Facebook,
the lovely fragrance
of the piping hot coffee
permeates everything.
Mid-morning break,
First cup of tea,
steaming Oolong
or Chamomile,
depending on my mental state
sometimes it requires
balancing the herbal teas.
Brewing herbal concoctions,
used as medicine
for aches, pains,
and just about everything.
They’ll help ease my
in-between seasonal maladies.
October storms brewing
with almost black clouds;
they promise rain to end
the long, long drought
that held this region hostage.
The northwesterly winds
blow away the dust,
they play and dance
with the leaves
engaging in a wild dance.
Our election season
will soon culminate in – what?
Pots are near boiling point
as are the candidates,
hurling insults, false statements,
blaming for wars, climate change.
Overpopulation is rearing
its ugly head,
trying to strike out,
unleashing rage and unrest.
And in the midst of it all,
I sit back and slowly drink
the freshly brewed, fragrant coffee.
